March Break Travel

Planning a little “R and R” with the family over March Break?  Having a family discussion about your vacation and the behaviour you expect from your children before you go is time well spent.  Children respond much better when they know up front how to behave rather than be “corrected” when they have done something wrong.

Here are a few travel tips just for kids:

  • Pack a bag with some items to amuse yourself – books, hand-held games etc.
  • Be patient while waiting and sit quietly with your belongings at your feet
  • Be careful not to jostle people with your baggage when you come down the aisle or hit someone when putting it up
  • Speak quietly and avoid making noise or laughing loudly
  • Keep your belongings off your neighbor’s lap and tray
  • Check behind you before adjusting your seat backwards
  • Don’t kick or jostle the seat ahead of you or wander up and down the aisles
  • Wait your turn for the bathroom and clean up after yourself
  • If you are listening to the radio on headphones, keep the volume low
  • Be considerate of airline personnel and thank them when you deplane
