We all love homemade cinnamon buns, but we all don’t have the time, nor inclination, to bake on every occasion. This recipe is perfect for the time pressed chef!

“Fake it ‘til you Make it” Homemade Apple-Cinnamon Buns

Makes 5 Buns

Ingredients

  1. 1 Red Prince apple, cored and finely diced
  2. ½ tbsp brown sugar
  3. 1 tsp cinnamon
  4. 2 tbsp water
  5. 1 package of premade cinnamon buns (We used the Pillsbury Grands but you could substitute another brand as well)

Instructions

In a small pot set over medium heat, cook apple with sugar, cinnamon and water, stirring occasionally for approx. 5 minutes. This will soften the apple and the moisture will evaporate. If your apple is soft and there is still water left, drain it away. Let cool.

Preheat oven to cinnamon bun packaging guidelines. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.

Working with one bun at a time, carefully unwrap the bun and evenly add in apple pieces, then reroll and place on the baking tray. Continue until all of the buns are complete. If you have any extra apple, tuck it into any gaps.

Bake following package directions.
